This summer most of the libraries in Onondaga County are participating in 'A Universe of Stories', summer reading program. At the Baldwinsville Public Library, their program for children is for ages 3 through grade 5. Older Children, teens and adults can also participate, but my focus is on the program for younger children.
Sign up for the program began on June 24th, but you can sign up at any time! Every week, the children read as many books as they can, or for the older kids, as many pages in the books they're reading as they can. They bring their book sheet back, and pick a prize. Prizes are based on their age and grade. They are asked what their favorite book was for the week or what part they liked.
Not only are there prizes for reading, but there are fun activities and events for the summer, all related to the theme. The program ends on 8/12.

7/8 at 2 pm Panning for shark teeth (registration required)
7/15 at 2 pm the MOST traveling science show (We saw this last year and it was great)
7/22 at 2 pm Astronaut training (registration required)
7/29 at 1:30 pm Zoo to You!
8/5 at 2 pm Building Party
On Tuesdays there are movies at 2pm
