CNY and upstate NY has a lot to offer during the summer. Here are ten day trips to take from the North Syracuse area.
1. Museum of Play-Rochester, NY
- Only about an hour away, it is a perfect trip
- The Museum of Play has a Wegmans Shopping area; Butterfly exhibits; Sesame Street and so much more.
- I recommend riding the antique carousel.
- Expect to be there 3-4 hours.
2. Seneca Park Zoo-Rochester, NY
- Set in a park, this zoo is lovely. It has elephants, lions and so much more. Expect to spend a few hours. Bonus: pack a lunch and have lunch at the park.
3. Cooperstown Area (2 hours away)
- Cooperstown offers so much more than the baseball hall of fame. There is the farmers museum, the Fenimore museum, Otesgo Lake. On the way there, stop by the Fly Creek Cider Mill.
- Pack a lunch and enjoy the lake or cider mill.
4. Chittenango Falls State Park
- This may not be hours away but it’s perfect for hiking and picnics. Bonus you can head to the Wild animal park in Chittenango.
5. Sea Breeze amusement park-Rochester, NY
- Water rides and more.
6. Enchanted Forest Water Safari-Old Forge, NY
- NY’s largest water theme park. Water rides, dry rides, picnic area and calypso cove.
- About 2 hours to get there.
- In the Adirondacks.
- Old Forge itself is beautiful too.
7. Southwick Beach State Park-Belleville, NY
- Located on Lake Ontario, swimming, fishing, play area. About an hour from this area.
8. Seneca or Cayuga lake wine tours/area
- Visit the wineries and other areas around them.
9. New York State Museum in Albany
- Albany is a bit of a drive but the museum is well worth the drive
- FREE admission

- Explore this awesome aquarium in Rotterdam while out in the Albany area
- Check out the Albany Science museum as well to make a whole day of it
