Learn about your Library

Baldwinsville Public Library

By Alyssa Knutti April 24, 2019

In this new feature, I am focusing on the libraries in our area. Up first is the Baldwinsville Public Library.

Located at 33 E Genesee St. in the Village of Baldwinsville. The library is a main focal point of downtown. It has a brick façade and parking lots in the back. Once you walk into the library, there is a big community room to your left and restrooms to your right. Entering, you have the main circulation table on the left and the main part of the library to the right. There is an extensive children's area. This is where I spend a lot of my time since my children love that area. In the children's area is a small information desk, two restrooms, a story room, small tables and toys. There are always new books every time we visit. I love that. We typically will find some DVDs and a few books to bring home. The books for older kids are in the center and the easy reader books (I'd say for preschoolers) are spread out along the outside.

The rest of the library has a young adult area, a computer lab and several small rooms people can reserve for meetings or quiet study. The library has many programs offered, not just for children. Their website shows all of the details of the programs offered, and a calendar of events. The library hosts the art show for the Baldwinsville Central School elementary schools. The volunteers and librarians are very nice, and helpful. If you're in Baldwinsville, check out the library. Have you been to this library? What is your favorite part?

Next week, we will focus on the Liverpool Public Library
