On Monday April 15th, the Baldwinsville Public Library hosted the program Bubble Mania with Doug Rougeux. My children and I attended the program. We enjoyed the program. It was full of laughs, educational and kept the kids' attention throughout the performance.

A little background about Bubble Mania! and Doug Rougeux. Bubble Mania! is a company that does shows throughout New England and upstate NY, and across the world. Here is the website for information about Bubble Mania!. Doug has been performing with the company since 1991. He performs in upstate NY and Pennsylvania. This has more information on Doug.
Doug had bubble wands of all sizes, a CO2 dispenser to make dry ice and music. He started off with the story of Bobby the bubble. The story was very funny and my kids enjoyed it. Then he moved on to a bigger wand and used the CO2 dispenser to make a bubble snowman, an alien, a disco ball and many more bubble creations. Doug made learning fun by using funny tricks to get the bubbles to stick. Did you know that bubbles will stay if they are on any wet surfaces, including his tongue. The audience was hysterical when he pretended to swallow the bubble. I learned that no matter the shape of the wand; bubbles will always be round. I never knew that. Doug was engaging with the audience and even noticed when the kids needed a shake break. He had everyone stand up and move around. It was perfect. For his finale, he brought out a giant wand. My daughter whispered to me 'that's a hula hoop, mommy, it's so big.' He made huge bubbles with the hula hoop wand. He asked for a volunteer to stand inside the bubble. My son, who normally is shy and doesn't volunteer for anything, raised his hand enthusiastically. Neither of my children were chosen, but Doug was able to fit the bubble over the girl who was the volunteer. When the show was over, my daughter was upset and wanted to see more. Luckily, Doug will have another performance outdoors in June at the Seneca River Days in Baldwinsville. I'm looking forward to seeing his outdoor show. I would highly recommend Doug and the Bubble Mania show!
If you know a library, school, moms group, or any other organization, this would be a perfect show for an assembly!
